This week continues my excerpt from Bonded in Exile. Thank you everyone, for stopping by to read on in the Emily, Silas saga. Hope you’re all enjoying it 🙂

Emily didn’t reply, there was nothing left to say. Sarah, her sister, was all that mattered right now, not her stupid broken heart, and not Silas and his masterful manipulation.

“The bleeding stopped.” He carefully set her foot on the bed, limped over to the medical kit, and grabbed it off the shelf. The entire side of his pant leg was soaked; she wasn’t sure how much blood he could lose, but if this had been one of her patients in the ER, he’d been in shock by now. “You got a needle and thread around here?”

  1. I love how you addressed her being focused on her sister and “not her stupid broken heart.” Great line! I also like how she compares the extent of his injury to what she’s used to seeing in the ER. Great six!

  2. This is a very powerful scene on several levels. By pointing out he should be in shock, you’re adding in layers about what he is. And I like that she’s trying to work around that broken heart of hers. Makes her interesting. Nice six.

  3. He’s been patiently tending to her wound, putting up with her anger and he’s been perhaps more seriously injured all this time. I think she needs to start re-thinking her irritation with him. 🙂

  4. “Sarah, her sister, was all that mattered right now, not her stupid broken heart, and not Silas and his masterful manipulation.” Great line. Now I have to go back and figure out what’s going on. 🙂
